(Manchester, NH) —Former Governor and current candidate for US Senate Jeanne Shaheen released the following statement today in response to the announcement that U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy has a brain tumor:
"I am deeply saddened by the news that Senator Kennedy is ill. For more than 40 years in the Senate, Senator Kennedy has been a stalwart voice for America's working families. His work to reform America's health care system, expand education opportunities, protect the environment and guarantee civil rights should serve as an example for us all.
"Senator Kennedy has always been a courageous fighter and I know he will tackle this challenge with the same determination and resiliency that he has always shown. My thoughts are with Senator Kennedy and his family."
