(Manchester, NH) – In today's Nashua Telegraph, John Sununu claims to be independent and bipartisan, but his record in Washington tells a very different story. Instead of working across the aisle on issues like health care reform, alternative energy development and increasing oversight on Wall Street, John Sununu has voted 90% of the time with George Bush on bills that put the needs of special interests and big corporations ahead of the needs of New Hampshire families.
"Election Day is just 17 days away and it seems like John Sununu is trying to find 17 different ways to hide his record of standing with George Bush on failed policies that have hurt New Hampshire families and small businesses," said Kate Bedingfield, communications director for Jeanne Shaheen for Senate. "Sununu talks the talk for middle class families and small businesses in New Hampshire, but down in Washington he walks the walk for George Bush, Republican Party leadership and the special interests."
In this morning's Telegraph, Sununu also tried to claim that he has worked across the aisle in Congress. But in September, Sununu's campaign told the Telegraph that he had opposed proposals to help middle class families and crack down on predatory lenders because they were "Senate Democratic proposals."
